Cuba is a bizarre and atmospheric place - the most fantastic country I've ever been to.
It feels frozen in time. Go, before it changes and becomes like everywhere else.

Fiona Tomlinson, News Editor, Channel 4, UK
We live only
to discover beauty.
All else is a form of waiting.

Par-lay voo French ?

« Never have I been in a country whose atmosphere of daily life is so charged with powerful and contradictory emotions. No visitor can remain unmoved, and many are moved to bitter-sweet tears that blend sublime joy with overwhelming pathos. » Mark Cramer, Culture Shock ! Cuba

« In the end, the reason why the administration doesn't want any travel to Cuba is simple.
It doesn't want the American people to understand, ten minutes after their arrival,
that
they have been fooled by their government about Cuban reality. »
Philip Peters, former member of the State Department under Reagan and Bush (the elder), vice president of the Lexington Institute

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth is revolutionary. George Orwell
Today the world is run by three of the most secretive institutions in the world : The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization, all three of which, in turn, are dominated by the U.S. Their decisions are made in secret. The people who head them are appointed behind closed doors. Nobody really knows anything about them, their politics, their beliefs, their intentions. Nobody elected them. Nobody said they could make decisions on our behalf. Arundhati Roy

Viva the new Cuba. Let free trade and tourism thrive. Its the American way. Down with right wingers.

The entire 140-acre pea crop on my farm was sold to Cuba three years ago and I would love to travel to Cuba for a vacation and meet the people.

We have Everything to gain by restoring normal relations with Cuba.

European nations cannot be allowed to dominate trade with Cuba because of just a few right-wing American hold-outs.

Open trade with Cuba is a Win-Win situation for the US.

jorr, fodors.com/community, 140411

I cannot see how it is likely a win-win for Cuba. The U.S. Mafia - Meyer Lansky and the boys - absolutely controlled the country's crime, prostitution, murders, drugs, drugs, drugs, extortions, betting, etc etc.

Don't you somehow imagine that the mob in NY and Atlantic City and Vegas is not standing near the shore awaiting a return to corrupt Cuba once again ?

To bring casinos, drugs, extortion once again as has worked so beautifully in the U.S.

How will that be a "Win" for the people of Cuba ? They are better off without the U.S. ever being allowed near the country.
