Since late 2010, the friendly couple (Zoraida a retired financial technician and Roberto still active in food services) greets tourists in their casa, one of the few of the old city to be truly colonial. Built in 1715, theirs is one of the oldest in all Cuba!

At the entrance, a large living room with high ceilings with in its second part, a door opening on the new air-conditioned guest room with double bed and large shower completed in April 2011 (photos at bottom of page).

Opening onto the airy and lighted patio (where guests can enjoy breakfasts and dinners prepared by Roberto's mom), one will find two other windowless air-conditioned bedrooms, one with its own ensuite bath, the other room's guests using the bathroom with shower in the patio. All three bedrooms are on the ground floor, a sort of rarity in Habana Vieja.

Laundry service, secure parking nearby. The couple is working on making a terrace on the roof which should be ready by the end of 2011.

Prices per room per night : 30cuc

"It was really a very good experience; the casa was kept very clean, no dirt anywhere, and there were no noise from the street spoiling your sleep. Each of our two (big) rooms got one double bed and one single bed which were very soft and comfy, besides there were aircon. and “propels” in each room, to keep a nice temperature.

The meals (including desert), which we paid 10 cuc. for, were huge and tasteful. You could always be sure that nobody went hungry to bed. And when we got up in the morning, there was a fabulous breakfast table, with fruit, bread, eggs and cake waiting for us.

Roberto’ brother Nanzo is a taxi-driver and therefore we had the opportunity to go by taxi from Havana to Cienfuegos for 25 cuc. per person. Besides taxi-driver Nanzo is a terrific guide and he gave us a guided tour in Havana for just 20 cuc. per hour, incl. driving.

The family did just everything they could to make sure that we did not need anything. As Roberto said; My casa is your casa.

At last the best recommendation must be, that all of the other visitors in Casa Colonial del 1715 were guest who had returned to this exact casa, some even 3-5 times." BodilUlso Ikast, Denmark on tripadvisor 23.07.11
