The two-storey casa has a large entrance (portal), a large living room with TV, DVD, USB drive (films and docs in various languages), books and board games and a dining room that can accommodate up to 12 guests.

The couple rents three bedrooms (two in the main building), all with private bath, air conditioning, Fan, wardrobe, drawers, fridge, window.

Behind, the ground has a ranchon with three tables (one for each room), a large courtyard with garden (the third room is there) and fruit trees and a children's playground.

Born in Brazil, Sergio lived 25 years in Canada as a chef and sous-chef for exhibitions and banquets in various hotels like the Four Seasons and the Hilton and restaurants like Morton and Movenpick in Toronto.

He speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish, lives here permanently and devotes all his time to the care of his customers since January 2015.

Rates: 25CUC per room per night; daily cleaning, linen and towels every three days. Dinners for 10-12; breakfast, 5. Parking space.

Rates payable in US dollars or Euros; the couple lives with their two children upstairs with their own private access, so guests have total privacy.

" Sergio was a perfect, super friendly and welcoming host. He is one of the best cooks in the whole of Cuba, open-minded and open-hearted.

We had some interesting talks and a nice salsa evening in Trinidad. I do miss my few days in his house.

Best food in Cuba
"I travelled in Cuba for 4 weeks from Varadero to Havana, Vinales, Trinidad and Santa Clara. I stayed in various casas (bed & breakfast), and my favorite was Casa do Sergio in Casilda, Trinidad.

Everything was perfect from the spacious beds and 800 treads linen, to the meals prepared for us by Sergio a Canadian chef now living in Cuba.
