The large casa colonial of Armando ("Mandy"), a charming and attentive middle-aged bachelor boasts, in the back, a kind of mini-apartment in black & white tiles with air-conditioning, private shower and bath (a real one), toilet, table, fridge, sink and counter (photo left) and two single beds on the ground floor, in the back near the stairs leading to the rooftop; facing the kitchen, another aircon bedroom with one double bed and an outside wash/shower room. Large, well-decorated living room, excellent cuisine (Armando picks up ideas from his regular trips to Europe), musica and joie de vivre are all part of Armando's hospitality. On request, you can check your e-mail. On the roof, a cozy and well-appointed terrace partially shaded with views of the city. Armando manages well in English and can get along in Goethe's mother tongue. Highly recommended. Rates : 20-25cuc per bedroom per night. |

"I stayed at different casas in Cuba in Havana and Santiago de Cuba and they were all very cozy and comfortable, but Armando offers a much more enhanced experience at his casa La Villa Soñada in Matanzas. The casa itself is wonderfully decorated and automatically makes you feel like you are on vacation. I would choose the casa over a hotel resort any day.
Matanzas is a fun and quaint little city with pretty good nightlife and with the amazing beaches of Varadero being so close, I would recommend La Villa Soñada to anyone who wants to plan the perfect vacation getaway in Cuba. Aside from all of the amenities the casa offers, Armando goes out of his way to make sure that you are comfortable and have anything you might want. He's also a great cook! I can't wait to go back and spend a good amount of days in Armando's little paradise." CJ Alvarez from Los Angeles Trip Advisor 10.07.09 |

"I just arrived from three days of holidays spent in Matanzas, a town 10 minutes from the airport of Varadero.
I was lucky to stay there in a Cuban home where I had my own lovely apartment with a loft bedroom, bath with hot water, a luxury in Cuba and my own private toilet. I stayed in this paradise for only 25 pesos a day. It is possible to have a too generous breakfast : there was everything on the table, eggs, ham, bacon, cheese, orange juice, coffee, milk, jam, fresh bread and I forget surely." "Well I was supposed to stay in Matanzas for a stopover of the French ship I work on, but in Matanzas, there are very few hotels. So I came directly to Mandy's in my ship uniform ! Mandy .... a bit skeptical ... greeted me like any other guest ... You have to meet this guy. His house is incredible .... his dinners a feast he prepared a small lobster soup and finally a lobster ....all just for me. We finished the evening with 10 people on the roof patio, an unforgettable moment .... Thanks, Armando! " Miguel el Marinero
