On Paseo de Marti — Habana's mini Champs-Élysées in the capital's true centro. Exceptional choice, centrally-located among all a visitor would want to see, minutes on foot from Old Havana's attractive squares and cobblestoned streets and close to Parque Central, Teatro Nacional, Hotel Inglaterra, the Floridita (birthplace of the Daiquiri), etc.
Superb views of Plaza Gomez, the sea, the Malecon, the Fortaleza and the Prado all the way to the Capitolio. Reached by a wo-manned elevator, Prado 20 counts two dozen other apartments. The penthouse floor (9th) is exclusive to this remarkable casa particular. Marble floors, living and dining area with full height windows, every space decorated and furnished with superb taste, muchas plantas and verduras. Private access to the bedrooms right from the elevator. Colour television, minibar, huge walk-in closets, air conditioning and private modern bathroom in each bedroom. We only show one bedroom here, the other was occupied when we went by in Jan. 05. Having lived part of her adolescence in Canada with her diplomat father, since deceased, Evora speaks very good English and lives with her spouse Manuel Gil Castellanos, also bilingual. Her mother owns and still runs the building. You can meet her in the lobby. Evora used to run the casa as a paladar, so she knows and understands the needs and cares of visitors. Rates : 35 to 40 cuc per room per night. Only breakfast is served, 4cuc. Two doors down the street, in a beautifully-restored corner building, you'll find the restaurant Prado 12, a fine bistro. Up tree-lined Paseo, restaurants abound and across the Telegrafo, there's the new Prado y Neptuno, a very popular, trendy trattoria. |
